There are many benefits to being a member of a union, both small and large scale. Unions give a collective voice and support for workplace issues, whether that be in corporate or independent practice. In other sectors, union members receive higher pay, better sick pay, more paid holidays and better benefits. We want to help achieve that in our profession and we can all work together to improve the profession. Unions are primarily known for industrial action, but day to day the
main role of a union is to be on the ground and supporting it’s members. Unions also provide representation alongside legal advice when needed in workplace grievances/disputes or disciplinary action.
The power from a union is as strong as we make it. In order for us to be able to make large scale differences, we need your support. The more members we have, the more weight we hold when it comes to fighting for change. We need our members to be actively involved with the union where possible; telling your colleagues about us, giving us permission to share our wins, become a regional representative and communicating with us to help us understand what you need individually as a profession. We are stronger together.
As a member of NURVN, you will have access to multiple benefits including:
We will continue to add to this list of benefits in the future.
The majority of our funds will go towards legal fees for our members, allow us to attend events to interact with the industry and build our community, training for our board and regional representatives, help us to work on our website to streamline the joining process and fund future campaigns to better the profession
